David Ellis's Web Site

Welcome! Let me introduce you to my family…

This part of my web site is dedicated to my family heritage. The links below will take you to various branches of my family tree and Louise's family tree.

I began building the family tree in 2001 in preparation for a reunion of my Haddad cousins. The combined family trees have grown far beyond my expectations and now include almost 1,000 individuals. It would have been impossible to collect all this data without input from many relatives. I thank each and every one of them, and I ask them to keep me informed of any changes so the tree will be a living document with current information.

The next task is to learn more about my family history, but it's quite difficult without being able to ask questions of my grandparents and my parents. To my surprise I've been able to find a small amount of published information about my mother's family. I'll post it on this web site as time allows.

I'll continue to search for family information and post it here as it becomes available.

  • The David Family
Mike David and Sadie Aboud are my Mother's parents. I wish I knew more about how these two Syrian immigrants came to settle in the tiny isolated town of Tryon, Nebraska. If they were living I'm sure they'd have many tales to tell.

  • The Ellis Family
George Ellis is my paternal Grandfather. While he was being processed through Ellis Island someone inadvertently changed his family name from "Haddad" to "Ellis." Sometime soon I'll post an explanation for the name change.

  • The Haddad Family
Jennie (Najebie) Haddad is my paternal grandmother. She comes from a large family, many of whom settled in West Virginia. The cousins have remained in close contact and they're able to document their family relationships in a fair amount of detail. They make up a vast majority of the approximately 1,000 people in the family tree on this web site.

  • The Haffty Family
Norman Haffty and Mary Wood are Louise's maternal grandparents. Unfortunately I didn't know them. This close-knit family is primarily based in Worcester, MA.
